Having some technical difficulties?

What do I need to experience streaming video?

Is my Internet connection fast enough?
You need an Internet connection of 56K speed or better. Those with slower modems may experience problems or long delays while trying to view the video streams. If you are not sure ask your ISP, network administrator or refer to your modem or system documentation.

Why does the video sometimes stop or pause?
This could be caused by a lot of traffic on your Internet Service Provider's (ISP) network. In addition, you could have an older version of the media player, so please upgrade to a new version. Again, Shockwave flash player uses "streaming" technology to start transmitting video almost as soon as it is requested, rather than waiting for the complete video file to download. If the video stream pauses, it is probably due to general Internet traffic congestion, a slow modem connection, or insufficient computer hardware or memory. If a pause persists, it is recommended that you close all other programs you may have open and restart the video. In some cases a system re-boot is necessary to free-up memory and other system resources so video can stream properly.

What about proxy servers and firewalls?
Some organizations and Internet Service Providers filter or block video transmission. If you cannot get video transmission (even when your system meets the above computer and software requirements), you may want to contact your Internet Service Provider or Network Administrator to see whether its security firewall is intentionally or unintentionally blocking video transmission.

Will the streaming video clips take up space on my hard drive?
No, the video clips are NOT downloaded to your hard drive. The clips and web casts actually "stream" through and will not take up any memory on your computer.

 What is streaming media anyway?
Streaming media technology enables the real time or on demand distribution of audio, video and multimedia on the Internet. Streaming media is the simultaneous transfer of digital media (video, voice and data) so that it is received as a continuous real-time stream. Streamed data is transmitted by a server application and received and displayed in real-time by client applications. These applications can start displaying video or playing back audio as soon as enough data has been received and stored in the receiving station's buffer. A streamed file is simultaneously downloaded and viewed, but leaves behind no physical file on the viewer's machine.
