This class will educate the
participant on the accurate use of codes associated with
chiropractic documentation. E/M codes will be defined. These
codes should only be used for activities associated with
assessing the patient’s current problem and making the
related decisions. They may also be used for limited patient
management but not for substantive diagnostic and treatment
services. Examples and key components will be provided.
Chiropractic Manipulation
Treatment (CMT) is a form of manual treatment to influence
joint and neurophysiological function. The various
techniques used and the appropriate codes will be discussed.
CPT modifiers will be defined and the associated codes will
be listed.
Physiotherapy, the application
of forces and substances that induce a physiological
response which use and/or allow the body’s natural processes
to return to a more normal state, will be discussed. The
various uses of physiotherapy and the types of modalities
will be explained.
Upon completion of this module,
the participant will be able to:
• Grasp the difference between E/M codes and CMT codes
• Understand CPT Modifiers
Note:
Classes are recommended for all
students but do not count towards CMP accreditation.
